Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy services are provided by licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and are designed to support students with developmental disabilities in building the communication and feeding skills needed for success across school, home, and community environments. Therapy focuses on fostering growth in a variety of areas, including receptive and expressive language, articulation and speech sound production, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), social/pragmatic language skills, voice and fluency, and dining and feeding skills.

Services are individualized to meet each student’s unique strengths and needs and may be delivered in individual or group sessions. Therapy can take place within the classroom environment through push-in services or in a dedicated therapy space through pull-out sessions, depending on what best supports the student’s learning and participation.

Speech-Language Pathologists work collaboratively with classroom staff, related service providers, and families to promote consistency and carryover of skills across settings. Through this team-based approach, students are supported in developing meaningful communication and functional skills that enhance participation in daily activities and throughout all aspects of their lives.
