As a pioneer in the field for over 40 years, music therapy at Wildwood School is a dynamic, individualized service that uses evidenced-based music experiences to support students’ communication, social, emotional, motor, cognitive, behavioral, and sensorimotor skill development. Led by a board-certified music therapist, sessions may include singing and vocalization, playing instruments, movement and dance, listening to music, songwriting and composition, and improvisation activities designed to meet each student’s unique goals and abilities. Through engaging and creative interactions, students are able to express themselves, build confidence, improve motor, language, attention and impulse control skills, and connect with others in a supportive and inclusive environment. Collaboration with other related service providers and educational teams at Wildwood School promotes the transfer of skills and success of students’ goals across all environments.
