Art Therapy
Our art program provides a unique opportunity for students to experience a dynamic adaptive arts curriculum that focuses on giving students the tools they need to discover their unique creative voices and express ideas beyond words.
Every student benefits from an arts education, and Wildwood’s art program focuses on how students are able to participate to the best of their abilities. Independent choice-making, and expressing and nurturing special interests are at the core of every lesson, and students are encouraged to search for ways to create that work best for them.
The Wildwood art room provides a safe and enriching environment for students to explore a wide array of art processes, and allows students to learn to care for shared materials and work in a communal space.
Students have the opportunity to experience various wet (tempera paint, acrylics, watercolors, inks) and dry (chalk, oil pastels, markers, pencils) media, printmaking, fiber art (fabric painting, felting, sewing) ceramics, and multimedia sculpture. Wildwood artists are exposed to a rich and diverse variety of contemporary and historical artists, and given the opportunity to explore ideas and images that have shaped our society and culture
Each year, there are many opportunities for students to showcase their artwork, including in the community at various art galleries.
